Manisitque’s Tristan Ashbrook finishes Michigan Tech hockey career, signs pro contract

Ashbrook, 24, signed a contract with the Savannah, Georgia, Ghost Pirates of the ECHL. Savannah is an affiliate of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights and the American Hockey League’s Henderson Silver Knights.
The Ghost Pirates are in their inaugural season and competes in the ECHL South Division at the Enmarket Arena.
Ashbrook played in 94 games for the Huskies over the final three seasons of his collegiate career after transferring from RPI.
Overall in 128 college games, he recorded 58 points on 37 goals and 21 assists. At Tech, he had 28 goals and 17 assists for 45 points, registering a career high 17 points in the season just ended that included 10 goals.

Also in 2022-23, Ashbrook scored the game-winning goal in the Desert Hockey Classic title game against Boston University on Jan. 7 and the game winner in the second game of the Huskies’ Winter Carnival weekend against Bowling Green State on Feb. 11.
In his one year at RPI in the 2019-20 season, he had nine goals and four assists for 13 points while playing in all 34 of the Engineers’ games, scoring a team-leading three game-winning goals.
He has been a CCHA All-Academic Team member while at MTU and was on the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team while at RPI.
He grew up in Manistique before the Emeralds offered a formal high school hockey program. Instead, he played for two seasons in the U.S. Hockey League with Lincoln, Nebraska; and three seasons in the North American Hockey League, one with the Bismarck, North Dakota, Bobcats; and two with the Omaha, Nebraska, Lancers.
