Osborne leads Marquette girls soccer to win

KINGSFORD — With a good dose of offense from freshman Avery Osborne, the Marquette Senior High School girls soccer team played stout defense to earn a 2-0 shutout at Kingsford on Thursday evening.

Osborne netted both goals for the Sentinels, who improved to 2-1, as junior teammate Preslie Mason was credited with an assist on each goal.

Marquette has a busy schedule for the next week, starting with a game at Houghton at 4:30 p.m. today. The Sentinels have their home opener at 5:30 p.m. Thursday against Marinette, Wisconsin, then host Gaylord and Boyne City for the Dome Tournament to be held in the Superior Dome on Saturday, times not yet announced.

And MSHS completes the hectic seven-day period with a home game against Kingsford at 4 p.m. next Monday.
