Negaunee sewer overflow stops
NEGAUNEE — The recent snow melt and rain has led to extremely high infiltration and inflow into the city of Negaunee’s sanitary sewer lift station near Buffalo Road.
In an emergency effort to save potential sewer backups in basements and not have the sewage spill onto heavily used public infrastructure (roadway/greenspace), Negaunee officials sent the sanitary sewer overflow into nearby Tracy Mine, in an unnamed pond area.
According to Kenny Larson, Negaunee water/sewer foreman, the overflow started at 3 a.m. Friday and ended at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
