Bohnak has plan for flooding relief

MARQUETTE — State Rep. Karl Bohnak this week announced his plan to secure relief dollars after flooding devastated L’Anse and Baraga last month.

The legislation would send $465,900 in state funding to assist with recovery efforts.

“Our community is fast at work cleaning up the mess left behind by the flooding,” said Bohnak, R-Deerton. “These dollars would give our local officials the resources they need to continue recovery efforts and rebuild our critical infrastructure.”

The new funding originates from a past state allocation after a similar flooding event in 2018. Baraga County did not use the entire amount then. Bohnak’s plan would send those remaining dollars back to Baraga to allow them to use the funding on the most recent flood.

Starting at $3.23/week.
