MARQUETTE — The Michigan Department of Transportation continues to bolster their electric vehicle charging network through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program and has now posted the Round 3 Request for Proposals.

The NEVI program allocates a total of $106 million to Michigan, with a goal to provide EV charging access to communities statewide, supporting long-range travel and tourism.

In April, MDOT announced the Federal Highway Administration’s approval for Michigan’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plan, securing access to the $51 million in remaining NEVI formula funds and ensuring Michigan remains a leader in mobility innovation.

Following the first two rounds of procurement, MDOT is actively working to deploy 81 NEVI charging stations across Michigan. The remaining $51 million investment available through Round 3 is anticipated to include 60 additional NEVI stations, with a goal to bring them online and be available for public use by 2029.

This funding will help strategically close gaps in Michigan’s charging network, enhance reliability and expand access to EV infrastructure across the state.
