HARVEY — The state has ordered Harvey Oil Company to clean up gasoline-contaminated soil and groundwater and to pay for replacing at least 10 residential wells. In an Administrative Order issued Tuesday, the Department of Environmental Quality said the contamination “poses a substantial endangerment to the public health and welfare of the environment.” The order requires Harvey Oil to comply within 30 days, because of the risk to public health, legal tactics cannot be used to delay action, said DEQ Environmental Quality Analyst Carol Stuht.
