State Waterways Funding backs boating access projects in Marquette, Mackinac counties
MARQUETTE — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has announced more than $4 million in Waterways Grant-in-Aid Program funding to support recreational boating improvements across the state, including projects in Marquette and Mackinac counties.
With required local matching funds, the approved projects represent a combined investment of more than $6.5 million for marina dredging, engineering work and other site improvements that strengthen public access to the water.
The funding supports infrastructure in the U.P. tied directly to communities that rely on boating, waterfront activity and visitor traffic as part of their broader outdoor recreation economy. The long-term investment in waterfront assets helps keep our regional waterfront communities active, accessible and ready to welcome visitors.
