Sweetgrass Golf Club welcomes back top women’s golf talent for the Island Resort Championship
HARRIS — The 15th annual Island Resort Championship returns to Sweetgrass Golf Club June 26-28, where 144 of the world’s top rising women golfers will compete for a stop on the Epson Tour, the LPGA’s official qualifying tour.
Players will compete for a $225,000 purse, with the winner also receiving a championship trophy and a tribal honor quilt handmade by the Hannahville Indian Community. The event is also part of the Pure Michigan Cup, a three-tournament Michigan series supported by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation that adds bonus money and more statewide visibility to women’s professional golf.
The tournament continues to be a strong summer draw for the Upper Peninsula that pairs sport competition with tourism and community engagement.
