30 years ago NEGAUNEE — Television weatherman Karl Bohnak will return to his old running grounds when he carries the Olympic torch next month in Milwaukee. “It’s exciting I ran back in my high school days in Milwaukee and to go back there and carry the Olympic torch is really neat,” said Bohnak, WLUC TV-6 meteorologist for eight years. Bohnak will run with the Olympic torch in Milwaukee area on June 3 because WLUC TV in Negaunee Township is an NBC affiliate that will broadcast the Olympics. The 8:30 a.m. event at city hall is one of several events today kicking off the city’s year-long centennial celebration. 30 years ago NEGAUNEE – Today’s spring storm broke the record for all-time snowiest winter in Marquette County. “It’s official. 30 years ago MARQUETTE – Musician’s Federation Local 218 of the American Federation of Musicians, AFL-CIO, celebrates the 65th anniversary of the granting of its charter Sunday, April 28, with a dinner at the Marquette Elks Club. The local was formed as the Marquette Musicians’ Protective Union April 15, 1931, with eight charter members. Their charter was granted two weeks later by the Federation.
