High school football playoff game times set for this weekend
MARQUETTE — Game times for four Marquette County high school football teams have been set for first-round MHSAA playoff games this weekend.
Two predistrict game will be played at 7 p.m. Friday and two at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Friday night games are Negaunee at Calumet in Division 6 and Bark River-Harris at Ishpeming in Division 8.
The Saturday afternoons games are Marquette at Muskegon in Division 3 and Menominee at Westwood in Division 6.
Winners advance to the district finals the following weekend, the second round of a five-round process in 11-player football that culminates with the state championship games to be played the weekend immediately after Thanksgiving at Ford Field in Detroit.
Eight-player playoffs also start this weekend and run four weeks culminating in a pair of state championship games to be played at the Superior Dome in Marquette on Nov. 23, the Satruday preceeding Thanksgiving.
