Marquette Senior High School’s Alex Tiseo voted Upper Peninsula’s top athletic director

Alex Tiseo

MARQUETTE — The organization representing high school athletic directors in the Upper Peninsula has chosen Marquette’s AD as its 2023-24 U.P. Athletic Director of the Year.

MSHS’ Alex Tiseo won the honor after a vote was taken during a Michigan High School Athletic Association spring in-service meeting held April 19. The group making the selection is the aptly-named U.P. Athletic Directors Association.

The award is made annually by the UPADA to an AD for exemplary and outstanding contributions in the administration of high school athletics to school, community and the U.P.

Tiseo has served as athletic director at Marquette since April 2017, where he provides administrative oversight for the 32 athletic programs offered at his school.

As a veteran voice for U.P. schools, Tiseo has served on the statewide MHSAA Representative Council since 2019.

One of his noteworthy achievements was assisting MHSAA staff with the reinstatement of U.P. soccer teams into the MHSAA postseason tournament in August.

Tiseo is also a member of the Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association board of directors and commissioner of the Great Lakes Hockey League, the conference the Sentinels belong to in that sport.
