A family’s story
To the Journal editor:
Yesterday, I was driving out to Skandia and as I approached the top of Green Garden Hill, there was a lone American flag waving in the breeze. It kind of brought tears to my eyes as I often reflect on the history of my family and the remembrance of World War II and losing my father in that war. Then a year or so later a handsome young sailor came into our life from Gwinn and my mom married him.
This isn’t the end of the story and the reason I am letting you know about these two fathers of mine is because, not only were they fathers, they were soldiers, they were gatekeepers for our country and they served it well.
One died in battle, the other remained with a memory of his experience and what is not PTSD was a part of the rest of his life. Only his Christian faith saved him from his battle with alcohol, malaria and the horrors of what he experienced from his time serving in the South Pacific.
My reason for telling this story is to ask each and every one of you what these two brave soldiers would say about the horrific things our country is now experiencing and if they would wonder of their service was worth their time and life. I think they are “rolling over in their graves” as the saying goes by what we are hearing and seeing by the radical left and what’s going on in our beautiful America.
I think we should all sit back and reflect on what each of us can to do help change the course of our government role in deciding what, as a free country, we should or should not be able to do, say or even think if it is within the realm of the law and the Constitution of the United States of America.
Thousands of brave Americans have died in the past 245 years to keep this country free, prosperous and proud to be an American. Now it’s up to each American to rise up and speak out.
Call your representatives and express your thoughts. Be brave and tell everyone how your feel and think about remaining free and independent.
But most of all, fly your American flag with pride and glory and keep fighting these radical establishments for our most precious right. Freedom!
