NMU NCSA Women’s Team advances to World Series, seeks community support for travel

MARQUETTE, MI — The Northern Michigan University NCSA Women’s Team has earned a spot at the upcoming NCSA Division II World Series after clinching the Division Finals this past weekend in Elkhart, Indiana.

The team is now preparing to compete in the NCSA DII World Series, taking place May 8-10 in Cranberry, Pennsylvania. However, despite their competitive success, the team must fund their own travel expenses. With a departure date of May 7, players and supporters are working quickly to secure funding for transportation, lodging, and meals.

“We are incredibly proud of what these athletes have accomplished,” said Lisa Smarzinski, who is assisting with fundraising efforts. “They’ve earned the opportunity to compete at the national level, and now we’re asking the community to help get them there.”

The team is currently seeking support in the form of:

• Gas gift cards

• Restaurant or meal donations

• Hotel accommodations or discounts

• Vehicle rentals

• Monetary sponsorships

Local businesses and community members who contribute will be recognized through team social media channels and event-related promotions, providing an opportunity to support local athletes while gaining community visibility.

“This is a chance for Marquette to rally behind a group of dedicated student-athletes who are representing our community on a national stage,” Smarzinski added.

Anyone interested in supporting the team is encouraged to reach out directly by calling 920-450-5680.

Starting at $3.23/week.
