ISHPEMING — Join the Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club as it celebrates 50 years of rockin’ and swappin' at the 50th Annual Upper Peninsula Gem and Mineral Show. From humble beginnings as a small rock swap at Tourist Park in Marquette to the largest one-day rock show in the midwest, this free event has grown and flourished. ST. IGNACE — The Mackinac Bridge Authority will meet in special session July 7 in St. Ignace and have its regular meeting July 8 on Mackinac Island. The special meeting, scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, is to consider dedicating the building at Bridge View Park in honor of Bill Gnodtke, former authority member and chairman. MARQUETTE — Average gasoline prices in Michigan have risen 9.4 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.06/g today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 4,913 stations in Michigan. Prices in Michigan are 34.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 82.0 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has decreased 11.4 cents compared to a week ago and stands at $4.876 per gallon. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Michigan was priced at $3.37/g yesterday while the most expensive was $5.64/g, a difference of $2.27/g. ...
