EDITOR’S NOTE: Superiorland Yesterdays is prepared by the reference staff at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette. 30 years ago BIG BAY— It didn’t take the Drury family of Big Bay long to harvest some venison during the 1993 firearm deer season. Charlie Drury scored on a trophy buck just 9 minutes after sunrise on opening day of the season. AT 8 a.m., he brought down a magnificent 200-pound, 10-pointer. He shot the whitetail from about 60 yards with a .30-06-caliber rifle. The cooperative deer ran more than 100 feet toward Charlie’s nearby truck before collapsing. ...
