To the Journal editor: I’m 75 years old with a heart condition and I have COPD bad. I am on oxygen. Last June, the state took out my culvert so I made a bridge to go across, scary as hell but since the thaw, I can’t get out so we threw a ramp across to M-28 so I could get out. They said my driveway, 31 years old, was the cause of the road to give way. Everybody knows it wasn’t. I wish I had someone’s cell number to send a picture.

As president, it took him only four years to create 25% of the total debt incurred by the United States during 250 years. Trump’s debt arose from the largest tax cut in history for the wealthiest 1%. Only Lincoln, who financed a civil war, and George W. Bush, who paid for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, had larger debts relative to the size of the U.S. economy. To the Journal editor: Have you ever heart the saying “let there be light”? God said that in the beginning of creation. Just think we all know about darkness with the time change. It’s light for an hour longer in the evening. Just think of light for only a few hours that would be better than total darkness. Life would not continue. No sun to have the crops grow for food and not being able to even see anything. That’s only a start. So with that be thankful for God saying “let there be light” and what a gift. Every library in the Upper Peninsula is a precious gemstone on a necklace; strung together through common goals and shared resources, they make our communities shine. To the Journal editor: It has been 28 years since K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base closed its doors. Still, K.I. Sawyer is an unincorporated town with a population of 4,000. An unincorporated town has no governance therefore has no say in the township or county it is in. K.I. Sawyer needs to incorporate with charter from the state in order to govern itself and control of revenue generated by taxes paid by the homeowner.
