To the Journal editor: Some more positive reasons for those of us who call the Upper Peninsula of Michigan our home. One has to slow down in our fast moving world otherwise you will miss the great sights we have. Just look out your window, most can see wooded areas and even our animal friends, deer, rabbits, squirrels and birds, to name a few. To the Journal editor: This is a health update and a pleasant revaluation on the state of humanity, the Gen X generation in particular. I was back at UPHS for a couple of days again for a heart issue not related to my last visit. Again praise to life saving abilities of the Marqette hospital. I was constantly being treated by Gen Xers. They seem to be getting a bad rap by us Baby Boomers these days. I would guess the generations before us had doubts about us also. To the Journal editor: On Saturday, May 13, the NALC Branch #95 and the Marquette Post Office participated in the “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive. Our annual food drive brought in 10,000 pounds of non-perishable goods this year.We would like to thank the Marquette community for their generosity. To the Journal editor: My grandfather was a member of the famous 32nd Red Arrow Division of World War I made up of Upper Michigan and Wisconsin National Guardsman. He was wounded in Belgium. My father was in the Army-Air Corps in World War II stationed in China-Burma and India all during the war. My brother is a Vietnam era veteran.
