Giving help to one another

To the Journal editor: The Negaunee St. Vincent de Paul food bank would like to thank the many organizations and individuals for their generous donations used in the preparation and distribution of Christmas dinner baskets and gifts for children in the Negaunee and Palmer area this year. We filled 47 family baskets for a total of 128 people, 82 adults and 42 children. To the Journal editor: Once again, the people’s pope has spoken. “Along with many Catholic priests, I will now be delighted to bless my friends in same-sex marriages,” he said via email. My feeling is that tt is a baby step but a step in the correct direction. Jesus was accepting of all people. Not exclusionary. It’s time the Upper Peninsula catches up with the rest of the world. Numbers don’t lie

To the Journal editor: According to the World Meteorological Organization, 2023 will end up as the warmest year in terms of global average temperature since at least 1880 as the concentration of the atmospheric greenhouse gas carbon dioxide that traps heat near the Earth’s surface reached an all time high level last year. The WMO also reports the 9-year period from 2015 through 2023 will be the warmest decade since at least the 1880s. This recent warming has caused record high sea surface temperatures/sea level rise as well as record low Antarctic sea ice, according to the WMO. ...
