Taxpayer funds used how?
To the Journal editor:
Fifty years ago, I addressed a meeting of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
At that time, I felt their grants were unfair and unjust competition. The recent grants by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and rural Development illustrate this has not changed.
How many people experiencing food insecurity will be helped by $33,000 to irrigate Christmas trees? How will $100,000 for a road to a private campground, that the owner will surely make money operating, help us senior citizens wondering if we will out-live our savings? Will we have enough money to pay our taxes so we can stay in our own home?

Economic Development Corporations is a fancy title for taxpayer-funded business paid for by the public and the business that do it on their own and pay their taxes. When are we, the tax-paying public, going to stop electing politicians that think their job is to find more unfair, unjust ways to spend our tax dollars?
