Drinkin’ Diesel

For the second year in a row, Cognition Brewing Company in Ishpeming donated “Name a Beer After Your Pet” as a live auction item for the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter’s annual Cause for Paws Gala in October. On Friday night, the first of four pet-named beers to be released this year was tapped. Diesel’s Shop Dog Shandy is a limited edition shandy-style wheat ale with a twist of lemon and grapefruit. The beer was a gift to James Goriesky from his family after his loyal dog, Diesel, passed away in 2017. Above, Diesel’s beer sign hangs behind the bar at Cognition.
