Far-ranging 61 racers take part in Whitefish marathon

By Journal Sports Staff PARADISE — More than five dozen runners took part in the fifth annual Whitefish Point Marathon held June 10 near Paradise. The field of 61, all of whom finished, lined up at the Whitefish Township Services building to run 26.2 miles, heading north on M-123 and the Whitefish Point Road, reaching the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point for the return trip. MARQUETTE — Royal Blue’s Destiny Hedlund and Wing It’s Doug O’Hagan were named top defensive players in an Under-19 Coed Division game played in the Superiorland Soccer Association on May 22. Scoring in the game were Mikaila Graham, Mason Granger and Jaden Wrobel of Royal Blue and Greg O’Hagan and Audrina Starnes of Wing It. Trio perfect at plate for Martin Sports in Iron Range Women’s Softball League

NEGAUNEE — Veronica Slone, Vanessa Briones and Ashley Asgaard each went 3 of 3 with extra-base power to lead Martin Sports to a narrow 14-13 victory over Crossfit 906 in a Class A game in the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on May 24.
