Tech up next for NMU men

MARQUETTE – In its final game of the season, the Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team will take on Michigan Tech University at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Houghton.

NMU carries a 7-18 overall and a 5-16 GLIAC marks into the contest; Tech is 10-15 and 9-12, respectively. MTU beat Northern 69-56 earlier this season.

Freshman guard Naba Echols leads the Wildcats in scoring with a 13.6 point-per-game average. Sophomore guard Jordan Perez is scoring 11.5 ppg, while senior forward Donnell Cegers is at 10.2.

For MTU, Kyle Monroe leads the Huskies in scoring (18.4) and rebounding (7.0). Bryan Heath 12.9) and Luke Heller (10.5) are also scoring in double figures.

NMU holds a 130-76 lead in the all-time series between the two teams.
