NEGAUNEE — The 14th annual Iron Oars Regatta will be held on Teal Lake in Ishpeming and Negaunee on Sunday morning and afternoon.

Sponsored by the Upper Peninsula Community Rowing Club, the event runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting at the west end of Teal Lake and heading east for about two miles.

Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech will again compoete for the Iron Oars-Heavy Metal Series trophy. Other competitions include club members rowing against the clock in various classes, as well as youth rowers also working against the clock.

Spectators are encouraged to come out to watch the competition.

The UPCRC was founded in 2004 and has 70 members with a mission to promote the sport in Marquette County. Learn-to-row sessions start in June for youths and adults.
