Eastern teams vie for U19 title
BURLINGTON, Vermont – The home-state Vermont Shamrocks were scheduled to play the Connecticut Northern Lights for the USA Hockey Tier II Under-19 girls hockey championship this morning.
Each team won quarterfinal and semifinal games Sunday to advance to today’s final. Connecticut defeated the Naperville, Illinois, Sabres 1-0 in the quarterfinals and Skaneateles, New York, Lakers 5-1 in the semifinals.
Vermont took out the Team South Dakota 2-0 in the quarterfinals and the Massachusetts Spitfires 4-1 in the semifinals.
The Marquette City Insurance Sentinels defeated Illinois 2-1 in pool play while being shut out by South Dakota and Massachusetts.
