CRYSTAL FALLS – A pair of Marquette County competitors placed highly at the ninth annual Upper Peninsula Strongman event held at the Butler Potato Farm on Saturday. The event benefited the Friends of Forest Park Football organization.

JoBeth (Bethy) Williams of Negaunee totaled 14 points to win the women’s open division, while Rob Semke of Marquette scored 21 points to placed third in the men’s middleweight division for those weighing between 200 and 230 pounds.

Competition was held in four men’s weight classes, a senior men’s and women’s.

Other winners were Alex Teichert of Crystal Falls, men’s featherweight (175 and under); Tim Martin of Crystal Falls, men’s lightweight (175-200); Chad Childs of Phelps, Wisconsin, men’s middleweight; Ryan Martin of Crystal Falls, men’s heavyweight (230-over); and Chad Martin of Crystal Falls, men’s masters (40 years and older).
