Grimes wins 3rd Senior Club title
MARQUETTE – Ed Grimes won an 18-hole thriller over Terry Abernathy in the final match to capture his third Senior Club Championship on Sunday at the Marquette Golf Club’s Greywalls course.
On Sunday morning, Grimes defeated George Trujillo and Abernathy felled Jim Higgins in the semifinals, won on Saturday in the quarterfinals, defending club champion Trujillo defeated Marvin Meyers, Grimes bested Kevin Salmela, medalist Higgins downed Mark Petry and Abernathy got past Ron Maki.
These are the other flight winners – Maki, first flight; Jim Zorza, second; John Keto, third; Geoff Weston, fourth; and Mike Grimes, fifth.
