NMU spikers fall

ALLENDALE – The Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball team lost on the road Friday in three sets to No. 13-ranked Grand Valley State.

NMU lost 25-19, 25-15 and 25-12 to fall to 10-11 overall this season. Head coach Dominic Yoder’s Wildcats are now 10-2 in GLIAC play.

Freshman Madison Whitehead had 10 kills and four aces for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats held a 17-11 lead in the first set, but the Lakers stormed back to take the frame.

GVSU then dominated the next two sets to pick up the sweep.

The Wildcats will play at No. 22 Ferris State at 3 p.m. today.
