Northern Michigan University’s Adam Rockwood earns pro tryout in AHL

Adam Rockwood

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — One day after his linemate, Troy Loggins, landed a pro hockey deal, Northern Michigan University center Adam Rockwood got his chance on Thursday.

Rockwood was offered an amateur tryout by the American Hockey League’s Springfield Thunderbirds, the Florida Panthers’ minor league affiliate, and is now listed on the team’s roster.

After spending his first two seasons at Wisconsin, Rockwood transferred to NMU and had an impressive career with the Wildcats.

He led the nation in assists as a junior with 40, while leading the Wildcats with 48 points and earning a spot on the All-WCHA Second Team.

Rockwood followed that up this season with a 35-point campaign with 28 assists, tying him for 11th nationally, and another spot on the league’s Second Team.
