Gwinn volleyball defeats L’Anse behind efforts of Mannor and Curtice

GWINN — The Gwinn volleyball team picked up a nice 3-1 win over L’Anse (25-23, 25-12, 20-25, 25-13) Tuesday night with the help of some strong performances from Brooke Mannor and Emily Curtice.

Mannor finished with a team-high 14 kills, while Curtice had nine aces. Marissa Delmont finished with 18 assists and 20 digs for the Modeltowners (4-3, 1-1 West PAC).

“Brooke is coming off an injury and finally was able to put together her first good hitting night of the season,” Gwinn head coach Toni Roberts said. “I think we will see a lot more nights like this from Brooke. She has come a long way and has been working hard every day to get better.

“Emily Curtice created a lot of big runs for our team tonight off of her serve. She has been working hard and has an incredible serve that is hard for other teams to set up plays off of.

“As a team, we were much better tonight with our attitude and drive then our game last week. We are coming around quickly as a team, which is all I can ask for.”

The Modeltowners play at West Iron County Thursday.
