NMU men’s golf releases schedule for 2018-19

Wildcats will host meet at Greywalls Sept. 8-9

MARQUETTE — Last season may not have gone the way it wanted it to, but the Northern Michigan University men’s golf team is set for 2018-19 as it recently released this year’s schedule.

The Wildcats plays five events in the fall starting with their only home meet of the year, the NMU Match Play Invitational at the Marquette Golf Club September 8-9.

Northern then travels to the Bulldog Invitational in Big Rapids Sept. 15-16 and then the Findlay Invitational in Ohio Sept. 24-25.

NMU closes out the fall season with the Motor City Invitational in Dearborn October 14-15 and then the Kohler Classic in Sheboygan, Wis. Oct. 22-23.

The spring schedule includes six meets and starts off with the three-day GLIAC vs. GMAC meet in Port St. Lucie, Fla. March 7-9. That will be followed by the Saginaw Valley State Invitational in Georgetown, Ky. Mar. 16-17 and another Kentucky meet, the GLIAC South Invitational Mar. 24-25 in Lexington.

Northern then moves on to the three-day Midwest Regional April 6-8 in Noblesville, Ind. and the following weekend, the Wildcats head downstate for the Cats vs. Dogs Duel Apr. 14-15 in Big Rapids. The Wildcats will then return downstate for the GLIAC Championships Apr. 20-22 in Augusta.

NMU didn’t win any meets last year with its best performance being a third-place finish at the Kohler Classic.

However, the Wildcats did improve from the previous year’s finish at the GLIAC Championships as they took seventh place in 2018, 10 strokes better than in 2017. Martin Eliasson earned Northern’s only conference honor as he made the All-GLIAC First Team.
