The berths in four events were announced Monday evening by the NCAA. The three-day meet begins on Thursday, May 24, in Charlotte, North Carolina, with the top eight finishers in each event earning First Team All-American honors and the next four Second Team.

NMU senior Kameron Burmeister of Menominee qualified in two events, the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs with top-20 national times in each.

She is 19th in the 5,000 with a season-best time of 16 minutes, 49.45 seconds, and even better in the 10,000, where she is 13th with a top time of 35:13.41.

Burmeister is a two-time All-American in track along with two more earned in cross country. She owns Northern’s best-ever times in each of her qualifying events, both set this spring.

Ine Mylle

Senior teammate Ine Mylle returns to the national meet after finishing 14th in the triple jump in 2017. She is ranked 12th in the same event with a season-best 40 feet, 6.75 inches as the winning leap at the GLIAC Championships.

Senior Vivian Hett, a first-year participant in track and field after a stellar nordic skiing collegiate career, made the nationals in the 3,000 steeplechase with the 18th-fastest time of 10:43.11, achieved in the Wildcats’ final regular-season meet, the Dr. Keeler Invitational in Illinois. It is also the best-ever time in NMU history.
