Trillium House cited

To the Journal editor:

This is a letter of thankfulness to Pat Bray, executive director, and all the other workers at Trillium House.

I chose to go to Trillium House following my knee replacement surgery. Not only does this establishment provide hospice (end-of-life) care, but it also supports patients or caregivers who need respite care, like me.

For six days, I received first-class aid. All my personal needs were met. I also was provided with excellent meals, cooked by volunteers. I was lucky enough to have a refurbished Stryker bed, making it possible for me to get in and out of bed with little pain or awkwardness and a battery powered raised toilet seat! I bet not many other people can say that.

These amenities are what I expected. However, what I did not expect was the support given by Trillium House staff and volunteers. Their positive, uplifting and loving interactions with me (and each other) helped me heal.

Trillium House meets a need in our area, as insurance companies no longer pay for hospital care following “outpatient” surgery. We are sent home to struggle on our own, finding someone to help us daily and nightly with our medications and physical needs.

I urge you call Pat Bray and set up a time to visit this wonderful place. If you are looking for a place to volunteer, Trillium House may be the place for you. Donations are always welcome.

Starting at $3.23/week.
