Dear Rep. Bergman

To the Journal editor:

In my almost 50 years of voting, I have never had an elected representative tell me that my vote does not count. UNTIL NOW!

By attaching your signature to the lawsuit being filed by the attorney general of Texas, asking that votes in Michigan be invalidated, you have told me that my fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution that you have sworn to uphold and protect are no longer assured.

In your campaign literature and signs, you have reminded us of your distinguished military career. That career, promulgated on your oath to protect this country against all foes both internal and external, has now been shown to be at risk ….

Although we may not agree on all areas of policy and direction, you have shown no concern for the will of the people of the great state of Michigan. I accept the fact that you have been elected to represent me in Congress for the 1st District of Michigan.

I am old enough and mature enough to accept those results. Why can’t you accept and defend the results of the People of Michigan in electing Joseph R. Biden as our next president of these United States?
