ST. JOHNS, MI – Mary Elizabeth Maki, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She left the world surrounded by loved ones in her home in St. Johns, Michigan, on April 1st 2023, at the age of 60. She fought a long battle with breast cancer and stayed strong and positive through the end, never giving up hope to spend another day with her family.
She was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Marra) Morgan. After graduating from Ishpeming High School she attended Ferris College for nuclear medicine and went on to enjoy a long career as a sonographer, including twenty-five years at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
She met the love of her life, David Maki, in Marquette, Michigan and they had 3 children, Gina, Kayla, and Zachary.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, and did all she could for her children, stepgrandchildren, and most recently the newest family additions, her grandchildren, Isabella and Oliver, she is also survived by her brother, Joseph (Marilyn) Morgan, sister-in-law, Diane (John) Illikainen, her dear cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Graveside Service will be held at Park Cemetery, 301 N. 7th Street, Marquette, Michigan, on Saturday, April 8th, at 2PM, with the Rev. Fr. Larry Van Damme officiating.
