Marine sale fundraiser to benefit the Marquette Junior Yacht Club

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Junior Yacht Club will host a marine sale fundraiser from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Marquette Yacht Club, 201 E. Main St., Marquette. All proceeds will go towards upgrading sailing equipment. Benefit concert planned

MARQUETTE — At 7 p.m. Thursday June 18, a benefit concert will be held at Marquette's Messiah Lutheran Church, 305 West Magnetic St. The evening is being set aside to bless a thousand northern white cedar trees that will be planted in the Yellow Dog Community Forest during the coming weeks. This interfaith event is sponsored by Wild Church UP and The Cedar Tree Institute. History of Vasa lodge to be given

MARQUETTE — Anyone interested in Scandinavian culture is welcome to attend the monthly meeting of the Superior Lodge No.23 Order of Vasa at 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette. The program will present the history of the organization which was created over 100 years ago and celebrates Scandinavian culture. There will be refreshments after the program. Author Bradley to read poetry from latest work

MARQUETTE — Local author B.G. Bradley will read from his new collection of poetry, "North Words:A Year in Poetry," in the Peter White Public Library Community Room at 6:30 p.m. June 18. The work includes a poem for every day in the year and includes poems ranging from formal Elizabethan sonnets to avant garde found poetry and thematically covers many aspects of life in the Upper Peninsula.
