Benefit concert planned
MARQUETTE — At 7 p.m. Thursday June 18, a benefit concert will be held at Marquette’s Messiah Lutheran Church, 305 West Magnetic St. The evening is being set aside to bless a thousand northern white cedar trees that will be planted in the Yellow Dog Community Forest during the coming weeks. This interfaith event is sponsored by Wild Church UP and The Cedar Tree Institute.
Michael Waite, local musician and songwriter, will frame the evening along with presentations from Jeff Noble, retired wildland firefighter and Lanni Lantto, Wild Church coordinator.
The public is invited. Cedar seedlings will be also available for personal use. Donations welcome.
