60 years ago MARQUETTE – Sgt. Michael Dooley today warned pedestrians, particularly students, that they are not permitted to hitchhike or walk on streets in Marquette. Dooley said the two streets on which many violations occur are N. Fourth and N. Third Sts. On several occasions this week, he stated, police were called out because students not only were hitchhiking and walking on the streets, but actually obstructing traffic. The situation also occurs on other north-south streets, he added, but not as often. “We seem to have the most trouble with Fourth and Third Sts.” he said. ...
