US 41 bridge repairs in Houghton County start Aug. 3

CHASSELL — The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing about $536,000 to repair the US 41 bridge over the Sturgeon River in Houghton County. The work, which includes expansion joint replacement, deck, substructure and railing patching and crack sealing, will extend the service life of the bridge to maintain a safe roadway for users. Summer reading at library has great run

NEGAUNEE — The summer reading programs at the Negaunee Public Library end Saturday, Aug. 1. Library director Jessica Holman said this year has once again been record-breaking. "We had 262 youth, ages 0-17, register for the summer reading program," Holman said. "Hopefully, most will turn in their reading logs to claim their guaranteed prizes, and have a chance to win bigger prizes."
