What’s New at Peter White Public Library

This time of year, I am always searching for the perfect read. Is it time to let go of the cozy winter mysteries for something sunnier, a little more comforting? If you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for, check out this mix of new adult fiction books found on the shelves of Peter White Public Library.

Girl Dinner by Olivie Blake

This story follows two women. One a college student trying to find her place, the other a professor juggling work, motherhood, and identity. Both will find themselves getting pulled into the orbit of an elite, highly selective University sorority.

As things unfold, it becomes clear this isn’t just a social group. There is a lot going on beneath the surface, and not all of it is easy to read. The book mixes satire with horror and looks at ambition, pressure, and what people are willing to do for a since of belonging and success. Not a light read, but if you like something a little unsettling and thought-provoking, this one will definitely hold your attention.

The Time Hop Coffee Shop by Phaedra Patrick

This is a much easier and more comforting read. It follows Greta, a former commercial actress whose life hasn’t quite turned out the way she expected. When she comes across a unique coffee shop, she’s given the chance to step back into a version of her past that feels perfect.

At first, it’s exactly what she thinks she wants. Everything is uncomplicated and neat. However, over time, she starts to question whether perfect is actually better, or just easier. A questions we’ve all asked ourselves a time or two. This is a good option if you want something thoughtful without being heavy.

The Library of Fates by Margot Harrison

My final choice blends mystery with a bit of a dark twist. The story centers on a beloved yet dark library and a missing book that is said to reveal a person’s future, but not without a cost. When her mentor and Librarian dies and a secret book goes missing, Eleanor is pulled into figuring out what happened and where on Earth did the book go? This adventure leads to an unlikely partnership with someone from her past. The story moves between timelines as more and more pieces of the puzzle start to come together.

Whether you want something a little intense, something lighter, or something in the middle,

there’s a good chance one of these will fit.
