MARQUETTE – DynamO, an internationally acclaimed troupe that describes itself as a “theatre of acrobatic movement,” will perform Friday at Kaufman Auditorium in Marquette. DynamO has performed more than 2,000 times for nearly a million people since founding in 1981 – playing everywhere from the Lincoln Center in New York to the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Their appearance in Marquette is presented by The Quaystone Concert Series and the Upper Peninsula Children’s museum. The group came together as an “alternative circus” in an effort to explore gymnastics, theater, and mime in one setting. Their performances were so original in design and setting that they discovered they’d started a new theatrical discipline, the theatre of acrobatic movement.

MARQUETTE – Marquette will be the “deserted city” today as fishermen begin their annual trek to favorite trout streams. Opening of the trout fishing season on the last Saturday in April broke an anglers’ tradition of many years’ standing. For many fishermen May 1 has signalized the beginning of spring – because it brought the first day of legal fishing and an excuse for a holiday. The change was made by an act of the 1935 state legislature and as a result trout hunters will get six extra days of fishing in addition to a week-end on which to celebrate the opening of the season.
