The much anticipated visit of the delegation from Marquette’s Sister City in Higashiomi, Japan has passed. The 45th anniversary of this partnership has been celebrated. Marquette has stepped up to make this a very special event.

The city of Marquette, MAAC, Northern Michigan University, the Peter White Public Library, the Rotary Club, the Lions Club, Goodwill Industries, Marquette County Courthouse, media outlets, Travel Marquette, Winterhill Gallery, the Michigan Iron Industry Museum and the governor’s office all played a part in the success of the visit.

Many area residents participated in the planning, hosting, transporting, translating and welcoming the visitors

The Marquette Area Sister City Partership Board is grateful to all who worked on this special event.

It really does take a village.
