Minor sanitary sewer overflow reported in Marquette

MARQUETTE — The city of Marquette experienced a sanitary sewer overflow at 9:30 a.m. Friday, lasting for 20 minutes, at 924 W. Ridge St.

According to a notice from Mark O’Neill, director of Municipal Utilities, about 10 gallons was released. The overflow was confined to the grass area around the manhole. Cleanup included vacuuming up the impacted area and disinfecting it with barn lime.

The cause was determined to be grease and paper products in the catch basin.
