Foundation of Gardening offered
MARQUETTE — The Fall 2023 Michigan State University Extension’s Foundations of Gardening online course is open for registration.
The Foundations of Gardening is the educational component for becoming an Extension Master Gardener, although participants don’t have to become an Extension Master Gardener to complete the Foundations of Gardening course. They can receive a certificate of completion for the Foundations of Gardening.
Virtual live lectures will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 5 to Nov. 21.
Registrations for Upper Peninsula participants will be accepted through Sept. 1, and there are limited spots. Since this course will be provided statewide, any unfilled U.P. seats will be provided to other Michigan regions.
Register at www.canr.msu.edu/courses/foundations-of-gardening. Registration is a two-step process. Participants will be required to obtain an MSU guest identification, and will enroll in the course for a $350 fee.
For anyone interested in pursuing Extension Master Gardener certification, more information will be provided about the Volunteer Onboarding requirement. This will consist of an additional six to eight hours of volunteer training that will be provided in a combination of face-to-face and Zoom meetings with dates, times and locations to be determined.
