MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — One person was injured after a three-vehicle accident along County Road 550 in Marquette Township Tuesday night.
At approximately 5:37 p.m., the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the report of a three-vehicle personal injury crash along CR 550 near Partridge Bay Trail.
According to a news release, a white 2010 Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 25-year-old female, was traveling northbound on CR 550 near Partridge Bay Trail when she observed a green 2011 Subaru Outback, driven by an 19-year-old male, slowing to a stop on the roadway in order to let the vehicle ahead of him make a turn. The driver of the Impala was traveling “too fast to stop,” crossing the centerline into the southbound lane in an attempt to avoid colliding with the Outback. The Impala proceeded to collide with a black 2020 GMC Sierra traveling southbound, which was driven by a 51-year-old male, the sheriff’s office said.
After colliding with the Impala, the Sierra spun spun sideways and came to a rest perpendicular in the middle of the roadway, taking up both north and southbound lanes. The Impala also came to a rest in the middle of the roadway.
The driver of the Impala was the sole occupant of the vehicle and sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident, the sheriff’s office said. She was medically evaluated at the scene and released. The driver of the Outback and the two occupants of the Sierra were not injured.
The driver of the Impala was cited for careless driving. The incident remains under investigation.
Assisting the sheriff’s office at the scene were the Marquette Township Fire Department, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and Marquette Detailing.
