Negaunee JV baseball blitzes Escanaba 16-2, 14-0
ESCANABA — Negaunee’s JV baseball team pumped out 30 runs in a doubleheader sweep at Escanaba on Thursday, winning 16-2 and 14-0.
Starters Drake Ayotte and Waylon Harvala earned the pitching victories, Ayotte going four innings and allowing three hits while striking out seven, then Harvala went six innings, giving up just two hits as he recorded eight K’s.
Aiden Cardinal had hits and multiple RBIs in both games, including three RBIs in Game 2, when Harvala helped his own pitching cause by going 3 for 4 with a double. Teammates Ty Niemi, Trent Juntti and Damion Jurmu all had RBI singles in the nightcap.
In the opener that Ayotte won as pitcher, he cranked a two-run double, while Cardinal bombed a two-run homer to centerfield. Harvala and Jurmu each also hit two-run singles, and Harvala and Lux Harris each slapped an RBI single.
