Ishpeming schools close Monday due to smoke in HVAC units

ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming Public School District issued a press release Monday regarding the closure of the middle and high schools. “This morning, we closed the building out of an abundance of caution after a small amount of smoke was detected in the commons area,” the release states. “After a thorough investigation, we determined that the source was an overheated motor in one of our rooftop HVAC units. ST. IGNACE — A 19-year-old Saint Ignance man was recently arrested for aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime. Jaxon Massaway was arraigned in the 92nd District Court of Mackinac County on Tuesday after being charged with three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
