Spooky season is here

MARQUETTE — Spooky season is officially upon us, and with it, several local municipalities have announced their Halloween events and times.

For information on events in other Upper Peninsula cities and towns that are not listed, visit their individual websites as Halloween draws closer.

MARQUETTE

The annual downtown trick-or-treat event will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. For more information, visit www.downtownmarquette.org/downtown-events/downtown-trick-or-treat.

Marquette’s Haunted Hayride will be held Today through Saturday at the Marquette County Fairgorunds’ “Scaregrounds” on M-553. Thursday’s hours are 7:30-9:30 p.m., while Friday and Saturday’s hours are 7:30-11 p.m. The organizers ask that no children under 6 years of age be brought to the event. The Associated Students of Northern Michigan University will host its annual Trunk or Treat from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 26 in the sports’ complex parking lot. Families are encouraged to dress up and come get candy from local organizations and businesses. Groups are welcome to sign up to be a trunk, represent themselves and pass out candy by emailing asnmu@nmu.edu.

MANISTIQUE

On Saturday, Oct. 26, the Highway 2 Community Drive-in Theater will host its ninth annual Fright Night. There will be a screening of the 2002 kids’ movie “Scooby Doo,” followed by the 1996 horror film “Scream.” There will be intermissions between movies to allow for people to enter and exit the field.

The west gates open at 5:30 p.m. for those bringing children to participate in trunk-or-treat, which will begin at 6 p.m., while the east gates open at 5 p.m. for those setting up trunks planning to hand out candy during the event. Gates will be marked.

There will be prizes for the best-decorated trunks, as well as the best Halloween costumes. Admission to Fright Night is free, courtesy of the event sponsor, SEMCO Energy.

Hours for trick-or-treating in the city of Ishpeming will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

The city of Negaunee will hold trick-or-treating from 4-7 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Residential trick-or-treating will be from 5-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.
