Raymond Joseph Pelissier

ATLANTIS, FL – Raymond Joseph Pelissier, age 82, of Marquette, died Tuesday, April 21, 2026 in Atlantis, Florida.

He was born January 22, 1944 in Marquette, the son of Wallace and Florence (Eastley) Pelissier. He graduated from Marquette Senior High School, and from Northern Michigan University with a B.A. in Music Education.

Raymond married Sharon Halonen on July 12, 1969.

He taught music in schools in Michigan and Wisconsin until returning to Marquette in 1975. In Marquette, he taught private music lessons, as well as working in retail. In the mid-90’s, he began working at the AuTrain-Onota School in Deerton where he taught music and art to primary school students.

Raymond enjoyed painting, primarily scenes of Marquette. He also built models of ore freighters that have been displayed in the Marquette Maritime Museum. He played in the Marquette City Band, Westerly Winds, and other local bands. Of course he loved playing in his family’s jam sessions.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Sharon Pelissier; nephew Andrew Pelissier of Marquette; and brother-in-law Robert Halonen of Aurora, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Margaret Pelissier.
