Marq-Tran driver injured in crash
NEGAUNEE — A Marq-Tran bus driver was injured in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Negaunee on Wednesday morning.
Negaunee police officers were dispatched to the crash near the U.S. 41 East and Teal Lake Avenue intersection at about 9:20 a.m. The crash involved a Marq-Tran bus and an SUV.
Police determined that the bus, driven by a 49-year-old female, was traveling south on Croix Street when it ran a red light and was struck by an eastbound Subaru Forester driven by a 73-year-old man on U.S. 41.
The bus driver was transported to UPHS-Bell by EMS for treatment of unknown injuries. The Marq-Tran bus was carrying two passengers who were uninjured. The SUV driver was also uninjured.
The incident remains under investigation.
Negaunee police were assisted on the scene by the Negaunee Fire Department, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, UPHS-Bell EMS and Anttila’s Towing.
