AU TRAIN — The Alger County Sheriff’s Office reported a woman was injured in a snowmobile accident on Wednesday.

The office said in a news release that at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, it received a 911 call reporting a single snowmobile personal-injury accident on Trail No. 8 near Addis Lake Road in Au Train Township.

The investigation concluded that a 42-year-old female left the trail and struck a tree. The patient was considered to be in critical condition at this time. Alcohol and excessive speed were determined to be the primary factors for the cause of the crash.

Alger EMS, Alger County Rescue 21 and the Alger County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident. The patient was transported to UP Health System – Marquette.

No names are being released at this time.
