Fall protection classes set
ESCANABA — Great Lakes Safety Training Center, a leading provider of workplace safety training, has announced the offering of free fall protection authorized user classes in the Upper Peninsula due to grant funding received by the Susan G. Harwood Grant from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
This initiative is aimed at enhancing workplace safety and equipping individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to mitigate fall hazards effectively.
As an organization committed to promoting safety across various industries, GLSTC recognizes the critical importance of fall protection training, particularly in high-risk work environments such as construction sites, manufacturing facilities, and utility installations.
Falls are one of the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities, and providing accessible training is essential for preventing accidents and saving lives.
The fall protection authorized user classes will cover a comprehensive range of topics, including:
≤ Identification of fall hazards
≤ Selection and proper use of personal protective equipment
≤ Understanding regulations and standards related to fall protection
≤ Safe work practices and procedures for working at heights
≤ Emergency response and rescue procedures
Students have their choice of two different class sessions: from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. July 17 at the Michigan Works office in Marquette and from 8 a.m.-noon Aug. 8 at Bay College in Escanaba.
The free classes are open to individuals working in any industry where fall hazards may be present. Participants are encouraged to register early, as space is limited. Interested individuals can contact GLSTC by calling 989-837-2332 or sending an email to enrollment@glstc.org.
